The National Highway Freight Program provides funds to the States, by formula, to improve the efficient movement of freight on the National Highway Freight Network.
Projects that contribute to the efficient movement of freight on the National Highway Freight Network and are identified in a freight investment plan included in the State’s freight plan. In addition, a State may use not more than 30% of its total National Highway Freight Program funds each year for freight intermodal or freight rail projects, subject to certain restrictions
First round of funds (Fiscal Year 2022) was released December 2021. Next round of funding (Fiscal Year 2023) to be released October 2022.
